The Channel Collection: Wearable Objects of Remembrance

Some stories aren't meant to stay on gallery walls.

The Channel Collection began as a series of textile masks inspired by my grandmother's sewing practice and my ongoing exploration of ancestral memory, African masking traditions, and cultural identity. As the work evolved, I found myself asking a simple question:

What if these conversations could be worn?

The Channel sweatshirts and T-shirts are an extension of my studio practice—transforming art into something that moves through everyday life. Each design is inspired by my original textile works, carrying forward themes of remembrance, protection, resilience, and belonging.

Growing up, I watched my grandmother transform fabric into something meaningful with patience, intention, and love. Today, those lessons continue to guide my hands.

The Channel Collection does not seek to recreate the past. Instead, it honors the cultures that inspire the work while creating new spaces for reflection. These garments become more than clothing—they become invitations to carry art, culture, and conversation into the world.

Each piece is produced in small quantities, making every sweatshirt and T-shirt part of a growing collection of wearable art.

Thank you for supporting independent artists and for helping keep these stories moving from the studio into the community.

New collection to come.
